I followed all this and did get it to work once but since then it simply refuses to.

Is there a list of files to clear out and start again with as I suspect a corrupted file thta is not being replaced is the problem.

Thanks Rob

But why do they make it so hard to get to work?

I could not find a PAN plugin that did not knock out the network manaager integration so I have used the dhclient bnep0 command and that seems to work. At least it shows if the bluetooth conneciotn is working as it should.

Thanks for the post.

I have now discovered that the included version of Blueman has the plugin to throw everything to NetworkManager, it just isn't enable.

If you right-click on the blueman icon, you can edit the enabled plugins. Enable to PAN plugin, an no need for the dhclient step. Though I find the dhclient method more reliable.

Thank you for this tutorial.
You have a typo on 1. Line:
aptitude install pptp ->
aptitude install pptpd

If you run named (bind) this will not work.
Stop bind (if you dont need it)
/etc/init.d/bind9 stop

If you see that message:
dnsmasq: setting capabilities failed: Operation not permitted
Solution:
nano /etc/dnsmasq.conf
An ucomment user and set user to root.
user=root

And run:
sudo /etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart

Costs me some hours to figure it out, so i want to share it here.

And if you like iDisk (file sharing/hosting online), just use Dropbox (www.dropbox.com). 2GB of storage (just like iDisk) for free. More space available at a cost. Voila!
